Function:
Through a hose, the fuel out of the fuel pump(FP) is connected to a pressure regulator, then to the injector. On the pressure regulator is there a vacuum pipe connecting to the intake manifold vacuum to cope with any change on the driving situation.
When the suction of the intake manifold increases to overpower the elasticity of the spring, the diaphragm is sucked up to allow the fuel in the fuel pipe to return to the fuel tank through the oil return tube, thus the pressure in the fuel pipe will always remain the same as that in the intake manifold (about 43 psi). The pressure in the fuel pipe will change with the level of vacuum in the intake manifold,to keep the pressure of the nozzle at the same level even it is at a different throttle position. The amount of oil injected depends on how long the nozzle is opened.
